I cannot believe it’s that time of year again already and with two kiddies at full time school this year I’ve been busy stocking the freezer with lunchbox friendly foods. One of my munchkins is super fussy due to some sensory sensitivity issues so I try to pack healthier options with hidden goodies like grated fruit and vegies or added fibre through bran, oats and flax to boost his nutrition. Pre-baked and portioned options suit me so that I can save time in the mornings by just pulling their snacks out of the freezer and popping them straight in their lunchboxes – they defrost during the morning and are ready to eat by recess.
These lunchbox ideas are also great party foods, especially for toddlers when you may not want to overload them with junk foods. They’re easy, freeze well and are all nut free.
What other sorts of foods do you like to send to school with your kids?

It’s the middle of summer and yep, it’s stinking hot! We’re still in party mood too catching up with family and friends over the holidays and Australia Day is just around the corner. It’s got me thinking about ways for everyone to cool off while celebrating and these drinkalicious recipes really fit the bill.
Depending on the occasion something spiked may not go astray but for those times when you don’t want to indulge or even share with the kiddos there are some alcohol free mocktails thrown in too. Scroll through this collection for refreshing ideas and click on the links for their recipes.

‘Tis the season for classmate Christmas presents and with two beautiful children at school this year I wanted to create something that was cute, not too difficult to make in large numbers and didn’t break the bank all at the same time! I thought long and hard about whether or not I wanted them to hand out sweets because of the huge influx of goodies being given out by friends everyday but in the end that’s what the boys wanted to give – after all it’s only Christmas once a year, right?!
Inspired in design by the Reindeer Food Bag Toppers from A Little Delightful, these toppers can be used on bags filled with any sort of goodies from M&M’s to candy canes or even popcorn. Add your child’s name to the blank space on the back and you’ve got a sweet and personal gift that their friends are sure to love!

It’s that time of year again and Christmas isn’t the only major celebration we’re looking forward to. New Years Eve is a time to reflect on the year that was and welcome in the new – with a bang! Traditional colours of black and metallics reflect the very adult nature of the night for many of us and we’ve put together a compilation of styling ideas around this concept. Enjoy!

The older our kids get the more we have come to appreciate just how vital having a great teacher is. There is no doubt that it would have to be one of the most challenging and important positions in our community and with the end of the school year and Christmas approaching it’s time to show them a little extra love.
In the past we’ve given sweet treats including chocolates, gingerbread and one year even made our own strawberry jam. My favourite teacher gift though is definitely of the living variety – plants. Flowers would have to brighten up anyone’s day and if you choose something edible like a herb or strawberry plant it really does become the gift that keeps on giving! With a little extra attention in the packaging department you can make this inexpensive present reflect your appreciation of their hard work all year with your kiddies. Place them in a tin pail or berry basket with some ribbon and twine for an easy and pretty gift.
We’re so excited to be able to offer these free teacher appreciation gift tag printables created by the very talented Millie May Design. Available in two different sizes and with five designs they are the perfect final touch to add to your gift.

I love a sweet treat and on a hot summer’s day there’s nothing better than a delicious, icy popsicle to cool down. They’re a favourite treat for after school in our house and they don’t have to always be unhealthy – my kids love pureed strawberries and yoghurt or apple juice served cold on a stick. They’re also fantastic treats to serve if you have friends or family coming over to enjoy a meal and there’s no clean up involved (other than sticky hands and faces).
I will happily admit that this collection of homemade popsicle recipes has me itching to get into the kitchen and the only problem is choosing which one to try first (I’m thinking Pink Grapefruit Mojito!!). Which recipes are you going to try?
